Fiascogate

I got now I don't care who got next

I've have the double whammy of not having enough time to write and also having a bit of writing block. Just having one of those 'is this blog worthy' type of episodes where I second guess everything that pops into my head. But I figure the only way to blog is to jump back on the horse and try to find something to talk about.

I considered speaking on Fiascogate but I only found out about that yesterday. I do have strong opinions on Fiascogate though so maybe I'll type a few sentences on it. Without going into the whole story (if you really are interested check the link) I believe that Lupe Fiasco (hence Fiascogate) is wrong here. Yea I may be one of those elitist hip hop fans who will look down on him cause he doesn't know TCQ's Midnight Mauraders but at the same time I sort of understand how a kid his age shouldn't be expected to recite that ode word for word. The issue to me though is his response. He almost sounds like he thinks its cool not to know Midnight Mauraders. Its never cool to not know one's history at the very least he should know that material in the context of what he does and what that album meant back in the day.

Even if he didn't though all he had to do was plead ignorance and sound contrite and we might have let him slide assuming he promised to study up for next time. Instead dude is taking the offensive arrogant position. Not cool. He cant be given a free pass cause as someone said if it was a solja boy or webbie or young joc who said what he said we would all be condemning them as stupid and mindless and giving this as an example of why hip hop is where it is right now.

That said I still loved Food & Liquor and look forward to The Cool.

Anyway hopefully tomorrow I'll have something worth reading to write about.

When new skool can diss old skool, an' it be okay? Neverrrrrrrr! Q-tip's a gentleman, & he does say what's important: "We never hunted him down and begged him to be a part of the show or anything like that." & BTW, Jill Scott was da bomb-factor on de guy's HIT. Shaggy's got a song that suits: "Ah waan yu know seh your 1 song might nuh last 2 long; check yu-self, my yute, ya move hype." Where's his respect for foundation?

Holy sh@#!!! Believe it or not J, I'm actually watching the VH-1 Hip Hop Awards right now. They are in a commercial break and I stepped off to go read your post and then the link. I had no idea of this happening. Then again, I haven't gotten to the Tribe tribute yet as well. what do you expect from the young'ns of the now School man? Totally ignorant and clueless. I've never even heard of Lupe Fiasco! Geez. That's a NAME??? -lol

Nah, bun him. He's less of a man for making cheap excuses for phucking up.

First, he's trying act like he didn't want to do it in the first place, and they forced him.

Then he is going to proudly mention that he didn't listen to MM and that he still wont.

He's a dick for that. Who goes to perform a tribute for someone, and doesn't put in the research? And then screws up and doesn't feel bad for not showing a bit more love in the first place?

He's not real, and I wouldn't even download his music again.

Lupe pretty much bites Q-Tip's style, but yet he never listened to their music? Something is amiss here.

Lupe seems a little off...but I also see where Vibe had a hand in amping things up...then trying to back down by explaining their "mistake".

Lupe is pathetic. I grew up on the West Coast of Canada and I grew up listening to ATCQ & West Coast Gangster rap. It is possible to like two types of music. Punk ass. Lupe is nothing, but a fake. I saw him getting dissed by skateboard bretheren on the BET Show Beef. They were saying how he is a boarder in name only and how he is not even serious about skate boarding, but thought it would make him popular. He's wack. How dare he flub up a TRIBUTE to ATCQ and then say he didn't even wanna do it and he didn't know their music. Then why did you agree to do in the first place motherfucker? Ugh. He's a punk. Enough said.

It's getting to a point that these rappers, etc. are becoming very unimportant. I mean do they really matter at this point?

does anything we all blog about really really matter when you think about it?

Dumber things have been said by a rapper. I agree with you. All he had to say was he wasn't familiar and let it go and consider it a simple compliment to be on a short list to be part of a tribute.

I don't agree you because since this has started he has had more to say which makes him sound extremely stupid.

I'm not sure why you would dis the fans who WERE more than likely going to buy your album.

A message to Fiasco:

You ain't Kanye. People will actually pass your CD on the shelf. Believe that. Cause I am.

Peace.
