Shout outs

Palin winked a few times and at one point gave a shout-out — maybe the first shout-out of any vice presidential debate — to a third-grade class.

Wha de France I hearing doah?

The potential vice-president of the United States of America did not just get up in a televised debate and give a "shout out" to somebody. Ya lie! Wha next thing she gine be throwing up "A" signs, asking we to put lighters in the air, sending big ups to her crew in Juno, you kno and bragging on how many bodies she done killed, moose bodies that is. Oh wait she's probably already done that last one.

I mean I already knew, rather had hints she was sorta ghetto what given the chile names and the pregnant teenager but still she like she was trying to prove her bona fides last night.

Look there is a time and place for everything. I'm sorry but leave the colloquialisms to their time and place. A live nationally televised debate was not the place to give shout outs. It tells me your vocabulary is limited or you dont have the sense to know when to use certain types of language. Leave that sorta talk to the fellas on ESPN and Sportsnet and people like me dat duz blog. We aint running for nuttin besides a TTC bus on mornings.

How it would look if Obama was giving a presentation and say yea I wanta thank my boy O-G Joe Biden for hooking me up with these figures and Michelle for the slamming PowerPoint slides. ha you know I love you boo!

Everybody would be looking at the man like he gone off or something. Plus you would hear how he inarticulate and he ghetto and he sound like a rapper and all sort of stuff so. But let Palin do that and suddenly she folksy and cute and represent the everyday Joe sixpack.

Get the bleep outta here!

Oh and what was with the winking? Looka me an she aint nuh friends, we aint share no inside joke, so either she got an involuntary tick in she eye or she was trying to get fresh wid me pun tv. And she coulda at least wink at muh when the wife wasnt sitting next to me. Some a dese women aint got nuh sense nor nuh shame at all at all den.

Oh and just because.

I agree Palin is a joke. A big one. She can't even see that she's the inside joke. They are making dirty videos of her at Hustler.

Where did she suppose the third graders were - glued to the debates or to Dysney? If they were actually watching the debates they probably were a little embarrassed.

That was funny.i don't have the energy to watch those debates so what I do is channel surf.

I expext to see Palin show up in a ghetto fab outfit next

Funny enough, the shout-out thing didn't bother me. So she sent a shout-out to some 3rd-graders in a presidential debate. So what? It just doesnt move me at all. I dont see it as out of order or cool. I nothing it. And if Obama did it, I would nothing it too.

I wouldn't say Palin is a joke either, or that she doesn't see that she is being ridiculed (how could she miss it?).

I think the republicans had to have chosen her for a reason (obscure as it might seem), and that if we consistently ridicule her, we might actually move a coupla people to sympathise with her.

Politicians make colossal mistakes, but some of these perceived mistakes can actually be very deliberate and strategic.

We spend so much time dumbing Palin down, hating and berating, that we might just be ignoring some strong appeal elements or... something...

Anyway, I'm paranoid. And I really want Obama to win. So I keep thinking all these things and wondering, what if Sarah Palin is actually winning hearts and votes while we're here writing her off as a non-factor? What if there is some complex, unexplainable, reverse-psychological process at work and we all get the shock of our lives after these elections?

What if...

i saw a bit of that debate... i have to say... the woman oozes charisma... the way she kept winking at people and then the ghetto fabulous shout out... i love it... she's such a celebrity... and wow what a winning smile...

i was giggling throughout because of the down-home-on-the-tundra-hockey-mom persona...

i hope people don't actually believe that's her real personality...

ruthibelle, palin is not ready for this position. its that simple. that doesnt mean she's not going to appeal to a certain segment of the population but no one in all honesty can say she is vice president material.

and the way i see it we can just accept it quietly or let it be known she isnt ready. will it affect voters maybe it will maybe it wont. the folk who want to vote for her will still vote for her regardless of what is said and those that want to vote for obama the same thing applies but the facts and the truth are she is not a good choice to run a country. maybe shes a good choice to pander to some segments of the population but would you want her as #2 leading the so called greatest nation in the world. i think not

my friends and i played drinking games with that debate. everytime she said:

"maverick"
"executive experience"
or
something about the people, we'd swig.

conversely, every time joe biden smiled condescendingly at her, we would drink as well.

good thing it was all just cola. we'da been drunker than mofos...

I keep thinking, what if the republicans win and McCain gets an untimely heart attack or summn (which really is not impossible)... sweet Jesus!!

Classic post. The woman sent women and women Libs back a good few years. I even find my young teenage daughter who has no idea of American politics telling me how irritating she is when she speaks. she even notices how Pailin can't put two sentences together without he "gees" and "gollywow" and all the other addons.

But I guess we should say, good that the Republicans picked her because she gives us good material to chat about at the coffee machine and the dinner table.

what can I say that hasn't already been said. But anyway, what's with shoutouts nowadays? I'm sure Ralph McDaniels is shaking his head. I heard a shoutout was given at a funeral recently. Propriety has just about laid down and died.
