Big Fat and Thick

I like dem big and fat and thick
120 de too bony
130 dey too hungry
160 dem girls too small fa me
ya have ta weigh a tonne a get my attention

And on and on it goes. Those are the words from a Crop Over song from a calypsonian Captain Sawyer this year.

So I come across this article today.

This lady in New Hampshire fired off a complaint to the medical board of New Hampshire because her doctor told her she was obese. Imagine that?

The complaint doesn't seem to be about the manner in which the doctor told his patient about her weight issues but the fact that he told her about them and suggested she lose weight. I guess she wasn't ready for him to burst her bubble of delusion.

Come on now. Your doctor is supposed to be the one person to tell you things straight up. You don't want your doctor to be like that knight in Monty Python's Holy Grail who lost a leg fighting and swears it was just a little nick, a mere flesh wound. No if you are at the doctor you want him to give you the results straight. Yes you want him to be sensitive and have a nice bedside manner, which is probably why I'm not in the medical field, but you want the truth.

Seems like she wanted some tact and from the doc's response it seems he taking some responsibility. But I hardly think its worth bringing a lawsuit

Alot of people will profess that they want to hear the truth, when they know that they don't. The truth can hurt and leave scars, and a woman who's obese, well lets face it. She's not operating with the most highest of confidence to begin with. The direct approach doesn't work with everyone unfortunately. The doc did nothing wrong and she should be ashamed for taking a lawsuit out on that man.

Just to give an alternative opinion on the story as expressed here here. I don't know if I agree with the claims that the doctor is size-ist, but I do agree that I would have a problem if my doctor were to give me health advice and frame it in terms of my likelihood or not to attract a man. I think that's offensive and out of place, and I probably wouldn't go back to that doctor again.

That's one problem with America we want to believe we're o.k. just like we are...even if we're all screwed up. Nah, sometimes you ain't alright.

Ish is getting all crazy. my brother, who's also a doctor, landed in hot water for telling a woman she really didn't need any antibiotics (she had a minor cold).

I must be out da loop. I'm seeing "word verification" everywhere. the spammers really that desperate?
