Brother's gonna work it out!

Ok had another blog for today but time is pressing so this is a quick one. The title is from a P.E song off the Fear of A black Planet Lp for those who don't know.

Anyway looks like brothers and sistas might be finally wisening up. This article proves it.

"More African Americans identify having to fight for a cause they don't support as a barrier to military service," concluded an August 2004 study for the Army. It also said attitudes toward the Army among all groups of American youth have grown more negative in recent years.........................

Blacks make up about 23 percent of today's active-duty Army, but the share of blacks in the recruit classes of recent years dropped. From 22.7 percent at the time of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, the share slid to 19.9 percent in 2002; 16.4 percent in 2003 and 15.9 percent last year, according to figures provided by Army Recruiting Command spokesman Douglas Smith.

The slide has continued, dropping to 13.9 percent as of Feb. 9.............

A July 2004 study of parents' influence on young people of recruiting age found that black parents have more say in their child's career decisions than is the case with white parents. Also, black parents trust the military less and have more moral objections to military service................

A separate study, done shortly after President Bush declared major combat operations in Iraq had ended, concluded, "Combat is the number one reason why" blacks don't want to join the Army.

Duhh, blacks don't want to join the army because they don't want to get shot to hell in Iraq. Can ya blame em?

By the way any votes for me doing a America's Top Model blog tomorrow? I can be swayed :-)

Urban mami is cheating lol. Yes didy post that shyt.

Don't blame African and indeed any American for not signing up. You join to the army to defend the country. not oppress. i think it's a simple matter of preservation

Man, blogger still having major issues...I suggest all of you migrate to MT (let MB set you up)....the comment box jus won't open!

I wouldn't want any child of mine (though I don't have any yet) to have a US Passport now....skin colour nuh have shyte fe do wid it. Nobody wishes to get shot up, blown to smithereens....life ruff sometimes, but it sweet as well. I doh see Bushy sending his kids to go 'Bring 'em on!'

My previous boss had her only child....an adopted son killed in Iraq...24 years old...shot down in a helicopter....a wasted life if you ask me....they can keep the military honours...he is dead, never to return. War sucks. Enough said. Dr. D.

Jdid, de reverse psychology s'posed to be, "Accuse 'em ov bein' scared ov combat, an' they'll sign up to prove us wrong!" Right, like 50's fave pastime isn't gettin' shot.
Blog de dubious beauties wif your usual mercilessness. LOL.

@summer - your wish is my command, didnt get any digits though
@urban sis - lol, a little excited over there arent we? :-)
@obi - definetly a matter of preservation. now is definetly not the time to be joining the US army regardless of waht perks you may get
@Dr D - Yep, its just poor folks kids dying, nun a de big boys sending their offspring to fight this war
@abeni - I hope your friends came back safe
@bajan Sistren - yep, no war. and yes I'll blog about ANTM
@big N - ok I get the feeling you guys want a commentary lol
@Melody - I dont think this reverse psychology angle will work right now. Most people who join the army join to reap the benefits of education, skills, job etc but you want to know that you have a high chance of coming back home to enjoy your benefits and right now thats not happening. if black parents do have the influence they say then they do remember vietnam and how army blacks died there so the numbers are going to stay low for a while.
